Wind Flow

We use Wind Farm to perform basic laminar wind flow analyses and the results predict the speed up (or slow down) factors for wind speed relative to the anemometry mast. The analysis takes into account the topographic effect of hills and valleys (orographic) on the wind speed.

In some case, particularly for small wind turbines and urban areas, the dominant slow down factors are due to wind shelters such as trees or buildings. Wind Measurement International has developed its own software, Shelter Map, which integrates with Windfarm to provide a low cost solution to analyse wind shelters.

The flow analysis requires full 3D landform data of your site. We work over a range of resolutions and are able to tailor the data cost to your project.
